Bradford dentist submits application to convert run-down pub into a new practice

A dentist from Bradford has submitted an application to convert a run-down pub into a brand new practice.

The dentist in question, who owns Eccleshill Dental Practice on Institute Road, has applied to turn the derelict Prince of Wales pub in Eccleshill into a new surgery. The pub, which is located on the junction of Leeds Road and Harrogate Road, has been closed for approximately two years and the building has fallen into a state of disrepair.

The owner of the practice has expressed an interest in expanding his current business, and he is hoping that the application is approved, and work can start on creating a new state of the art practice, which already boasts parking facilities.

News of the application will be welcomed by some, but Kerr Kennedy, campaigns officer at CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) suggested that it is a sign of the times in Bradford, where pubs are closing in many areas of the city.

The application will now be reviewed by planning officers, and a decision is expected in the coming weeks.
