Botox for bruxism

Sample News Big
News this week that Jenny McCarthy likes a “little bit” of Botox. The comedian regaled Oprah and her audience with tips, claiming that Botox helps people feel better.
But Botox doesn’t just have cosmetic and mood-elevating effects: now, it’s being touted as an effective treatment for bruxism, more commonly known as teeth-grinding.
Injecting the Botox into the overactive jaw muscles helps them relax by blocking the message from the nerve for the muscle to work.
Pioneering the treatment is Kevin Zadshir, a cosmetic orthodontist with the Transform cosmetic surgery group who has treated 30 bruxism patients with Botox in the past year and claims 100% success.
Unconsciously grinding and clenching your teeth during your sleep can lead to headaches, gum and jaw problems, and enamel erosion. The pressure on your teeth during a grinding session is up 20 times greater than the force of normal chewing or biting.
