Blackpool One Of The Worst Towns For Oral Hygiene

A report has revealed that the oral hygiene of five year olds in Blackpool are some of the worst cases in the country. Public Health England found that almost 50% of the children in the town have had tooth decay. This is much higher than the countries average of 27.9%.

Children in Blackpool tend to have about two teeth, which are decayed whereas the nation average is just one tooth, or less which are decaying. Within the North West it is the worst town for dental hygiene, coming behind other towns such as Oldham, Bolton and Salford. The report also found that almost 2% of children in the country are showing signs of sepsis.

In Blackpool there are a high percentage of children who have suffered from a dental abscess, reaching 4.2%. Although these results are not very good, they are at least better than previous results from 2008 onwards.
