Blackpool Kids Have Plenty To Smile About After Educational Session With Local Dentist

Schoolchildren in Blackpool had plenty to smile about after they were treated to a fun and educational session for World Oral Health Day. Dr Zuber Bagasi, from Synergy Dental Clinic, visited Revoe Primary School to talk to kids about teeth cleaning, the dangers of sugary foods and drinks and healthy lifestyle habits.

Dr Bagasi spoke to children about the importance of brushing your teeth and taught them about the impact of eating sugary treats and fizzy drinks; he also handed out free toothbrushes and toothpaste.

He explained that he was eager to encourage children to use the new toothpaste they were given, as many still use children’s toothpaste, which does not contain enough fluoride in the absence of fluoridated water supplies in the North West. Fluoride helps to strengthen and protect the tooth enamel and reduce the risk of decay.

Dr Bagasi was also keen to hammer home the importance of brushing for two minutes each time and played the children a video to show them exactly how long 2 minutes is. He encouraged parents to play music while children brush or time their children to make sure they brush for the required time.
