Blackburn patients mystified by sudden dental practice closure

Blackburn patients are mystified by the sudden closure of a local dental practice. Patients at Magicsmiles Dental in Cherry Tree were informed of the unexpected closure via the surgery’s website.

The statement on the website suggested that patients would receive further information in due course, but some have been left in the dark by the decision, which appears to have come out of nowhere. One patient said that he felt that the owner, Mr Shabirakhter Patel, had left patients “high and dry” and accused him of abandoning them without any arrangements in place for the future.

The private practice had become increasingly popular in the local area and some patients are worried they will be unable to find dental services without travelling further afield. The online statement advised patients to seek alternative arrangements and apologised to those who would be let down by the closure. The message also stated that the owner issued “heartfelt apologies for the loss of the dental service” to the local area.

Local councillor Derek Hardman said that it was a real shame to lose the practice, especially as there is a shortage of dentists in the region, which may make it difficult for patients to find a new dentist.
