A dentist from Birmingham has plenty to smile about after opening a brand new dental practice in Edgbaston.
Dr Kian Dhinsa is all smiles as he prepares to welcome patients to his new surgery after acquiring Portland Dental Care. Dr Dhinsa only graduated two years ago and he has realised a long-held ambition to run his own surgery.

The King’s College London graduate is looking forward to welcoming patients to the Edgbaston clinic from April after securing funding from Lloyds Bank. Before taking the reins at Portland Dental Care, Dr Dhinsa worked in Harley Street, London, Birmingham and Cardiff. The retirement of the previous owner of the practice offered Dr Dhinsa an opportunity he couldn’t turn down and he is now counting down the days until patients start visiting the Edgbaston surgery.

Portland Dental Care is located in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, a few miles away from Birmingham city centre. The clinic currently provides NHS and private dental care for over 3,000 patients and houses two treatment rooms. Dr Dhinsa is planning to use part of the funding package to modernise the interiors and invest in new equipment and technology to provide new dental chairs, online booking and a state of art computer system.

As well as being a practice owner, Dr Dhinsa is also the co-founder of the Tooth Fairy app, the first app available in the UK to connect dentists with their patients remotely. The app will be used at the new clinic.
Talking about the future, Dr Dhinsa said that he was thrilled to fulfil his dream of opening a surgery in his home city. He also revealed plans to increase patient numbers and expand the treatment list.
