The team from Perfect 32 Dental Practice visited students at Bishop Burton College last week to celebrate National Smile Month, an annual oral health awareness campaign, which is organised by the British Dental Health Foundation.

Members of staff from the practice took time to visit the college and talk to students about key oral health issues in a bid to encourage healthy lifestyle choices and enable people to do their bit to prevent gum disease and decay. Students learned about the importance of diet for good oral health, how to brush properly and why it is important to see a dentist every 6 months during fun, informal and informative sessions.

The team hosted interactive sessions at the Riverhead Centre, which are accessible to all students and there were various games and activities on offer. Everyone also received a goody bag and classes posed for a photograph with this year’s mascot, Smiley.

Practice manager, Nicki Rowland, said that the team always looks forward to celebrating National Smile Month and it marks a great opportunity to get out into the community and share important messages and information about oral health. The students learned about oral health, but they also had fun and hopefully they will use the knowledge they gained in the sessions in the future to boost their oral health.

National Smile Month will run until the 19th June.
