NHS Berkshire West has announced that plans to open two new practices in the borough by the end of the year. Practices will be opened in Earley and Finchampstead in order to address the growing number of patient who demand to be seen by NHS Dentists, but cannot get on current registry lists.

Figures issued this month by the Department of Health revealed that NHS Berkshire West has increased the number of patients seen by NHS dentists from just under one hundred and eighty five thousand in March 2009 to just over two hundred thousand in July of this year.

NHS Berkshire West dental commissioning manager Hugh O’Keeffe was quoted as saying; ‘The opening of the new dental practices will further improve access to dentistry for patients in Berkshire West. This is in addition to the three practices we opened last year in Twyford, Newbury and Wokingham and the performance of all our current dental practices which has helped increase the number of patients accessing dentistry over the past year by more than fifteen thousand.’

The trust also plans to open a new practice in Pangbourne.
