A Belmar dental office is set to host a Dentistry from the Heart event.

Hanapole Dental Care, on Main Street, will offer free dental care on Friday 25th March; treatments including fillings, extractions and cleaning treatments will be available free of charge from 8am onwards.

Appointments for the clinic will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and no appointments will be given before the event. Dr Philip Hanapole will be joined by 11 local dentists for the clinic and the team are hoping to treat around a hundred patients during the day. The clinic will open from 8am until 6pm.

Last year, almost 100 patients were treated at the day-long event and dentists gave over $12,000 in free dental treatments.

The Belmar event is part of a national campaign run by Dentistry from the Heart, a non-profit organisation which encourages dentists and dental staff to volunteer their time and services to help people who are unemployed, on low incomes or without dental insurance. Every year, events are held throughout the USA and millions of dollars of treatment are given to needy people. Dentistry from the Heart was founded in 2001 by Dr Vincent Monticciolo; since the organisation was established, more than 50,000 people have benefitted. Beverly Hanapole, office manager and Philip’s sister, said that the pair had been inspired to host a free dental event after hearing Dr Monticciolo speaking at a dental seminar last year.
