Belgrade is emerging as a popular destination for dental holidays, it has been claimed.

Alex Cocic-Hall, founder and managing director of Healthwizard, the parent company of YourFavouriteDentist.co.uk, explained that after being quoted £5,500 by a UK dentist for dental work he looked abroad for cheaper options.

Mr Cocic-Hall flew to Belgrade to have two bridges and nine porcelain crowns fitted and claimed he saved around £4,000 including flights.

He said that following his treatment, he established his dental holiday firm, recommending Belgrade as a favourite for medical tourism.

"Patients return to the UK not only healthier and more confident, but possibly thousands of pounds better off as well," he added.

Mr Cocic-Hall claimed that avoiding dental treatment due to the high costs in the UK can have an "adverse effect" on people’s physical and mental state.

According to the British Dental Health Foundation, during October 2007around 60,000 Brits searched the internet for information on dental holidays.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18442806-ADNFCR
