The UK’s largest dental exhibition, the British Dental Trade Association Showcase, will donate a sum of up to £10,000 to charity, it has been confirmed.

Organisers will be using a new E-ticket system to donate up to £10,000 to three different charities. Delegates will vote for their favourite charity when registering for the event online and the money will be shared between the three charities according to the proportion of votes each one obtains. The charities are the British Dental Health Foundation, Bridge2Aid and Dentaid.

Dr Nigel Carter OBE, chief executive of the British Dental Health Foundation, said that he was delighted that the BDHF had been chosen as one of the three charities to benefit from BDTA donations. The foundation carries out very important work, trying to raise awareness of the importance of oral health and educating the public about oral hygiene and preventative dental care.

Dr Carter said that the charity relies on regular donations and highlighted the importance of the oral cancer campaign, which is extremely important, as more and more people are being diagnosed with oral cancer in the UK every year.

The BDTA showcase will take place at ExCel in London from the 4th-6th October; the show is entitled ‘Dental Showcase: A Voyage of Discovery’. More than 300 exhibitors from the UK and beyond will be attending the event and more than 10,000 dental professionals are expected to visit the exhibition.
