Bath MP Encourages Patients to Attend Appointments Following Practice Visit

Sample News Big

Bath MP Ben Howlett has encouraged patients to attend appointment following a visit to Bath Orthodontics.

Mr Howlett was shocked to discover that no-shows are incredibly frequent. On one day 61 percent of patients booked in for appointments didn’t turn up and this is a problem not restricted to Bath Orthodontics. Staff at Circus Orthodontics also reported a similar situation.

In light of the staggering figures, Mr Howlett has sent a letter to the General Dental Council’s chief executive, enquiring about what can be done to prevent such a significant waste of NHS resources.

Mr Howlett stated that people seem to be underestimating the importance of dental health and urged patients to attend appointments that they have taken the time to book. Not showing up wastes the time of dental professionals and blocks slots that could be used for other patients. He said that sometimes, things crop up and you have to make unplanned changes, but it only takes a second to call and cancel an appointment. If staff members are aware, they can then offer that appointment to somebody else who is waiting to see a dentist.
