Bath Dental Nurse Retires After More Than 50 Years At The Same Practice

A dental nurse who spent more than 50 years working at the same dental practice in Bath has retired. Angela White, now 69, got her job at Queen Square Dental Practice at the age of 15 years old.

Angela was offered a job when she left school after visiting the practice as a patient; she was with her mother at the time and the dentist enquired what her plans were when she left school and offered her a job at the surgery. At the time, she was just happy to have landed a job, but 54 years later, she is delighted that she decided to take up the position and has spent more than 5 decades caring for patients and getting to know them. She learned very quickly and has since developed into an extremely popular member of the team. She has grown up around many of the patients and has cared for different generations of the same family, which she describes as a great honour.

Angela is now planning to spend her time travelling around the country in her camper van with her husband and visiting her daughter in Dubai. She was planning to celebrate on her final day at work, but was involved in a car crash the night before. Colleagues are sad to see her go and have urged her to go back and visit on a regular basis.

Practice manager, Cherie James, paid tribute to the long-serving nurse, saying that she was an integral part of the staff team and very popular with patients and colleagues alike. She will be missed but hopefully she will keep in touch and pop in now and again to see everyone.
