Dr Milood Shadrooh, better known as the Singing Dentist, swapped the treatment room for the dancefloor last Saturday night, dazzling the crowds and earning a standing ovation. Dr Shadrooh wowed the judges at the Strictly-style charity event, which took place at Southampton’s Ageas Bowl.

Dr Shadrooh, who became an overnight YouTube sensation after uploading a series of clips of himself singing oral health-themed tunes, performed a Samba with dance partner Laura Chittock. The event was held to raise money for Where There’s a Will, a charity that raises awareness of Southampton General Hospital’s intensive care units and the role they play in supporting seriously ill individuals and their families.

Charity founder Heather Parsons invited Dr Shadrooh to take part in the event.

Dr Shadrooh trained hard for the event and described the experience as “stunning”. Everyone had made a real effort at the venue and all the dancers gave it their all. After weeks of practice, Dr Shadrooh said it feels like there’s a hole in his life and now he can’t wait to take his wife dancing when their 3 month old daughter gets a little older.

The Chequers Dental Surgery dentist didn’t win the event, but he was delighted with the reception from the crowd and he didn’t make any mistakes. He has already raised £3,000 for charity and is hoping to add to this total in the coming week.
