Avoid Dental Health Problems This Christmas

Sample News Big

Christmas is around the corner and for many of us this can be a time where we feel more inclined to eat unhealthy foods and drink more alcohol and soft drinks than usual.

It is therefore a time where our teeth and gums are put under more strain than normal, but there are a few simple things you can do to reduce the likelihood of incurring dental problems this festive period.

Let’s start off with foodstuffs.

The foods that are most likely to cause you dental health havoc this Christmas include sweets and biscuits, cakes and fizzy drinks—all the good stuff—while alcohol is another danger to the health of teeth and gums.

Foods that are just as festive but perhaps not as tasty, and which will put your dental health in good stead for the New Year, include broccoli and carrots, calcium-rich cheese and nutrient-rich nuts.

Maintaining a good dental hygiene routine—brushing teeth, flossing and using mouthwash—will also prove essential during a time where your teeth and gums are likely to come under more threat than normal.

If something should go wrong there are still emergency dental appointments available from many practices across the country, to ensure your cracked tooth, knocked out tooth or irritated gums do not ruin your festive break.
