AstraZeneca sale could make 2 billion dollars

Sample News Big

AstraZeneca has put its Astra Tech business up for sale. The business is a leading manufacturer of dental supplies, implants and other medical instruments and devices.

The sale of Astra Tech is expected to make two billion dollars, which will come in handy for the Anglo-Swedish company, as the company is facing an uncertain future. AstraZeneca is set to lose a significant amount of money in the future, as the patent on many drugs is due to expire and the company is struggling to find replacements. So far, the company has resisted moving into other markets, including consumer healthcare and animal health; however, there are plans to increase sales of non-patent generic drugs in the future.

JP Morgan has been appointed to help with the sale; the company has already started to contact potential investors and buyers. Possible buyers include American companies, 3M and Danaher and Swiss dental implant manufacturers, Nobel Biocare and Straumann.

According to Bloomberg, the company is also considering selling its chain of outpatient cancer centres in America.
