A footballer smashed three of his teeth after going head-first into a tackle on another player. The incident occurred in a match between Boca Juniors and Argentinos Junior in Argentina.

19 year old Argentinos Junior footballer, Gaspar Iniguez, was left with three fractured teeth after losing his footing and careering into Cristian Erbes, of Boca Juniors; the midfielder stumbled, but did not pull out of the tackle and suffered broken teeth as a result of the impact.

Iniguez’s situation was compounded by the fact that he received a yellow card for a professional foul after bringing the opponent down as he was charging towards goal two minutes before the final whistle was blown. The match ended in a scoreless draw.

A statement on the club’s website said that Iniguez has demonstrated incredible bravery and suffered three broken teeth as a result of a collision with an opponent’s foot. The club said that the midfielder was due to have dental surgery on Monday.

A video of the horror tackle, which is not the faint-hearted, is available to view online.
