Ammanford dental nurse organises Children in Need fundraiser to support a cause close to her heart

A dental nurse from Ammanford, South Wales, organised a Children in Need fundraiser last week to support a close very close to her heart. Kayleigh Jones, from Brynteg Dental Practice, planned a cake sale to raise money for the charity to support her niece, Hannah, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer for the second time.

Hannah was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia in 2013 and she underwent chemotherapy until 2016, when she was given the all-clear. Sadly, for Hannah, Kayleigh and the rest of the family, Hannah’s cancer returned in 2018, and she is now going through a further course of treatment.

Kayleigh wanted to organise the cake sale, as Children in Need supports families like hers all over the UK and the money raised every year makes an incredible difference to people like Hannah. Last year, a team from Children in Need visited Hannah, and Kayleigh wanted to do something to support the cause and get patients involved too.

Tara James, children’s nurse at the practice, said that the entire team was eager to get behind Kayleigh and raise as much money as possible. The cake sale was a great success and staff sported Pudsey ears and fancy dress for the occasion, which was a fun community event.
