American Dentists Uncertain About Economic Future

A new survey has suggested that American dentists are still uncertain about the future of the economy, despite the fact that most agreed that they were more optimistic about economic conditions than this time last year.

The final quarter findings of the Dentist’s Economic Confidence Survey were released recently by the American Dental Association Health Policy Resources Center and revealed that dentists are still fairly pessimistic about the current situation, but feel that things will improve in the future. On a scale of -100 t0 100, where -100 represents complete pessimism and 100 represents complete optimism, the average score for the current situation was -26, which denotes a pessimistic feeling, but the score improved for the next 6 months, to -12.

Although the scores are still fairly low, they have improved from the final quarter of 2012, when the average score was -46 for the current situation and -18 for the next 6 months.

Marko Vujicic, vice president of the Health Policy Resources Center, said that the findings confirm the fact that most dentists are still wary of the economic situation, despite the fact that there have been minor improvements in the economy.
