American Dentists Preparing for Root Canal Awareness Week

Sample News Big

Dentists across America are preparing for Root Canal Awareness Week, which is scheduled to take place between March 25th and March 31st.

Statistics show that 63 percent of Americans want to avoid root canal treatment, but the percentage of people who want to avoid losing a tooth is higher, at 69 percent. Many people worry about root canal treatment because it sounds like a daunting procedure, however, it can effectively save a tooth, meaning you do not have to worry about having a gap. Gaps in the teeth can affect the aesthetic of the smile, as well as contributing to problems with eating and speech.

According to a survey carried out by the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), 56 percent of people said that root canal treatment was the procedure that made them most nervous.

The AAE is currently sending out posters and leaflets to dental offices across the country to raise awareness of the Root Canal Awareness Week and advertise events taking place as part of the event. More information is also available from the AAE website and via the AAE Twitter account.
