American dentists prepare for Give Kids a Smile campaign
Dentists across America are preparing to take part in the Give Kids a Smile campaign.
The national campaign takes place at the beginning of February every year and hundreds of dentists take part; many offer free dental clinics for children and give out free toothbrushes and toothpaste.
The Give Kids a Smile campaign is designed to teach children about oral health and enable them to access free dental care at participating clinics. Many children receive free general dental treatments as well as preventative treatments, which help to protect their teeth and make them more resistant to decay and acid erosion.
In the Chico area, dentists, hygienists and dental assistants are offering a free dental care day for children aged between 1 and 12 without dental insurance. The clinic will take place on the 4th February between 9am and 5pm at Erik Roos’ dental office.
Last year, more than 46,000 dental professionals offered their services as part of the national campaign; almost 500,000 children across America benefitted from the campaign.
