Default Teeth Whitening after Root Canal

I have two teeth that are discoloured caused by a trauma decades ago. The colour became worse after an infection approx three years ago.

Following this I had root canal treatment on the two teeth (approx 2.5 years ago). The root canal seemed to have worked as a recent x-rays show recovery above the problem teeth. However the teeth are now more noticeably discoloured. One more than the other.

Five years ago I had whitening performed by a dentist that worked quite well but the above has reversed this.

I am now unsure what to do and if whitening will make any difference?

I have a tray, so would consider a good home kit to see if this would work.

Otherwise what else can I try?

What is the costs in the UK?

If you've had a root canal treatment you'll probably need internal whitening by your dentist to return your teeth to their original colour. It's not something you can do with trays as it's a particular technique specific for root treated teeth

I hope this helps

Thanks. How effective is internal whitening and how is it performed?

Would whitening gels and similar have any real impact on the tooth colour?
Thanks. How effective is internal whitening and how is it performed?
it depends on how much colour change is required

Root filled teeth can discolour. The most conservative way to correct
this is to internally bleach the teeth. It is important to cover the
root fillings but then the internal bleaching can produce impressive
results within a few days to a few weeks depending on the method used.
Failing this there are always restorative solutions such as crowns or
veneers
