    Default Orthognathic Surgery

    Hello

I had a consultation with a cosmetic dentist the other day and he said I need to have orthognathic surgery because I have proclined upper and lower incisors and a tongue thrust. He said he'd arrange for me to see a specialist dentist and said everything would be explained to me then. I've been reading about the surgery on the internet and sounds very complicated and the whole treatment takes a number of months.

I've been quoted £250 for the consultion and I'm prepared to pay it because I really really need to get my teeth sorted out. I wanted to ask if anyone's got an idea of roughly how much the surgery teatment costs? I also read somewhere that you have to keep going for regular appointments before and after the actual surgery - will I have to pay each time I do so or is the cost for the in between appointments included in the whole treatment price?

You certainly have some understandable concerns!

The honest answer is see the specialits and ask them all of these questions. When we are in complex treatments such as for yourself, the cost can range quite dramatically, even to give you a guideline would be misleading.

With regards to treatment time, this can range from a few months to years. Only your specialist team will be able to give you an indication. Payment terms are also set by individual practitioners. Some may require full payment up front others will allow spread of payments. I would say that alsmost all high end practices such as mine offer finance options to help make treatment affordable.

I'm sorry I could not be more specific in my answer but this is truly a situation that requires a full consultation

    I hope this helps

    Kindest regards

It sounds like you are having appropriate treatment. Many clients think that veneers are a fast and easy solution. And they can be. However, oftentimes I use braces prior to veneers and sometimes braces only. It is important to do things right.

I spend much of my time correcting things that have gone wrong and it pains me to see patients upset with their aesthetic work

I hope you get the result you want
