Unhappy Hate my smile and 2 front crowns

    Hello,

I am 38 now, when I was 14 I fell over the handlebars of my bike and cracked one front tooth and the other went grey.
I also had lots of braces when younger, some were awful. One of them had both upper and lower jaw braces which was to adjust my bottom jaw to come forward. I only have very bad memories of this as I had to wear it for 22 hours a day. I was bullied at school anyway and this brace made me look like a gerbil and gave me a lisp as well as being extremely painful!

I had my crowns done when 14 and they were awful, this has affected me all my life, at the age of 14 I lost all my friends, wouldnt smile and hated my looks. I had them done again around 22 by someone recommended by the orthodontist and although better the gums are always inflamed and there is a gap of darkness at the top. Also I have noticed that one of the gums has receded which is now even more ugly. This has really affected how I look, I have a slight goofy smile anyway and I hate my picture being taken and cannot smile without thinking if I am showing too much teeth and gums. The rest of my teeth are nice and white.

Can anything be done with this. I also am extremely nervous about having this done..I sometimes feel like I am going to have a heart attack when I get in the chair..!

Maybe I should have had these done years ago.. I just thought all crowns looked like this but maybe not???

    Thanks
    Karen

Dear Karen. I can't even imagine how you must feel, the story you have painted is a heartbreaking one.

I don't know what can be done without a full consultation, however I can say that there will be things we can do. Many people think that they are beyond help, I'd like to reassure you that we can make huge differences. The stuff you see on extreme makeover is the tip of the iceberg, and finance options means this type of work can be affordable to many.

I would recommend that you need to find a reputable cosmetic dentist. Try not to shop by price, if you look for the cheapest option your results will reflect this. Ask to see examples of work performed by your dentist. Many of the dentists here have before and after galleries on their web page.

Feel free to contact me by private message if you have any specific questions

    I hope this helps

    Kindest regards
