thanks for the replies guys, I go back tomorrow for "stage 2!"

Im hoping then that it was the infection that stopped it working as well as it should have done, I really was a bag of nerves tho, that can't have helped.

As for the sedative, im 100% convinced, even after 2 weeks ago, i'd rather feel pain than take it!

well that was a distinctly better experience, "lots got done" today apparently, and I just have to go back in 2 weeks to have the temp tooth removed and the proper crown put in.

Had no pain today at all, which I was surprised at, but when i knew/felt they had already filled the bottom back of my tooth I relaxed a lot as I knew that's where the pain was and they were not near it and wouldnt go near it... so I guess relaxing was the secret.

Actually, there was a "ouch" moment, one of the assistance holding my lip back pinned my lip against my teeth so i was kinda biting into it... ouch...

    Default Hi I'm a newbie :-)

    Newbie here :-)
Yesterday was the first dental treatment I have had for about 15 years as I have been terrified of the dentist.
I will give you my story..........
I decided that I needed to get my teeth sorted out for once and booked an appointment at a local dentist, I was so scared even to go for a check up, I drove past the surgery trying to suss it all out before my appointment date etc etc .....you get the idea I was pooing my pants!
OK I went for my check up the dentist seemed nice, the surgery was very plain and not very inviting I have to say but he told me I need 4 teeth out and that I should have sunflex partial dentures!!!!! I went away and mulled over costs and made an appointment to go for another appointment. In the meantime my partner went to get his teeth sorted out, he went for his check up and they took a tooth out there and then!! My partner has a really high pain threshold but he was in agony after a few days and went back to the dentist to get it sorted, in the waiting room were 3 other patients all with the same issue! After thinking about all this that is going on and that I wasn't happy that the dentist had no letters after his name and wasn't sure that he was even registered so I called the dental council...............
I decided to go for a second opinion on my teeth at a recommended dentist a fair few miles away from me, again I was scared but I NEEDED to go and get the ball rolling. Check up went ok I was told I didn'nt need the teeth out that the other dentist said I did apart from one which is just root that needs coming out!!
yesterday was my first appointment at this dentist for treatment, I was booked in for an hour, I needed a filling and a new crown, I decided to have a white filling and a white crown as you could see these teeth when I smiled, I have to say I AM AMAZED and over my fear as my dentist was so brilliant I came out of there numb but I burst into tears in relief that I have got over the terrible fer of dentists, I honestly didn't even feel the injections hardly. brilliant!! After an hour in the chair my first appointment was over, he said I was excellent and didn't feel I was nervous at all in the end, how true was he! I have many more appointments to go but I said I will be back again tomorrow if need be, the dentist laughed and said 3 weeks time and my new crown will be made and more works carried out.
    I am so chuffed :-)
