Not sure what to do?
Hi,
My wife and son just visited a dentist as recommended to do so for provision of braces to straighten his teeth (He is 13). Apparently they will be required and can be done on the NHS but will need to wait 12 months. Alternatively can be done privately for cost of £1800.(Ouch) Believe this is for metal braces. My questions are of course: -
1) Will waiting a year cause any damage?
2) Could I get this done much cheaper elsewhere (Live in Peterborough)
3) Would removable braces be better (Inman / Invisalign) or any cheaper?
I appreciate these are probably newbie questions so apologies in advance.
Thanks,
Tristan

hi
1. I dont think waiting will cause any damage, but of course cant answer this with certaintity. I would speak to your orthodntist regarding this.
2. The price you have been quoted is the average price dependable on complexity.
3. Each case is different and can not answer that without looking at the mouth. I am sure that the orthodontist has given you the best option available.

Thanks for your feedback. One last question which I should have asked first time: -
Are the braces used for NHS work any different from the private ones (assuming not going for ceramic or tooth coloured ones)?
Thanks again.

Hi
That is a question which you would have to ask the orthodontist who is carrying out the treatment. Each case is different.Dr Raha Sepehrara BSC(Hons) BDS with Distinction
