Default agony after implant crown fitted

Hi everyone, please can someone give me some adive...?

I went yesterday to have the final crown fitted over my implant (lower right, 6 back. whole process has taken almost 3 years, so was very relieved to be taking this final step) but the whole proceedure was extremely painful (dispite my dentist giving me 5 or 6 injections) and took an hour and 20 mins....once home, the pain got worse and worse...I have been awake all night and had to take a sick day from work today...my whole jaw is throbbing, as are my surrounding teeth and my face is very swollen.

should I be in this amount of pain at the last step? I am going back to the dentist in the morning but get the feeling that they are going to use the old line of "oh, you are just soooo unlucky" again....

feel like I am cracking up with the pain.

thanks, in advance for any words of support.

excuse me? even if you look at worse case senario
    12 weeks post exo healing
    4-5 mths bone graft
implant placement and healing 3 mths
    1 month for restoration
I make that 1 year although I would have to say that in my clinics 95% of cases would be finished in 8 months or less even with grafting.

It has been one thing after another. Where do I start?

The implant was placed just inder 3 years ago (no bone graft was needed) when the dentist tried to expose it, the pain was so bad that I had to tell him to stop...It was then left for another few months....When he tried to expose it again, he could not find it!! Again, it was left.....the 3rd time, he discovered that my bone had apparently 'grown over the top of the implant base'....i was then refered to a maxilofacial surgeon who was the only one that actually managed to numb the area...He then exposed the implant and again, it was left to heal.....I went on Monday to have the crown fitted and again, was in terrible pain throughout the procedure. My face is now so swollen and the whole area very very sore. I have just returned from the dentist with a prescription for AUGMENTIN for 5 days.....I have just been told by an Endo specialist who happened to be on site, that the problem may be coming from the tooth in front all along!!!

bearing in mind, I also have another 2 implants waiting to be completed at the back of my lower left. I am worried sick about letting them loose on that side. My treatment has been paid for up front (almost £11k)

wish I had not started all of this

Chin up. However, this does not sound reasonable. I would question the level of experience your dentist has in dental implants and if I was you I would seek a second opinion. This treatment should have been completed in 4-6months IMO.

Is this a common issue ?

The state of my mouth is not good, and I was considering implants but now after reading a couple of threads here im getting pretty worried about the whole thing.
