Mini Implants?
Hi,
I need an upper jaw denture but I'm being told that these cannot be secured with mini-implants by some yet some other very well-known dentists says absolutely they can?
Does anyone have an opinion on this?" What goes around..."

You can use mini implants to secure a denture, although I would not recommend this. Mini implants cannot withstand the same bite forces that full implants can withstand.
If you decided to go for this option, it would be a bit of a gamble
I hope this helpswww.migrainecare.co.uk

Hmmmm the industry seems to be split on this, I'm only going by the research I've done while I've been on Warfarin and I agree on the upper jaw it would be better to have full implants due to bite force. The reality is this can be three or four times the cost.
Can mini-implants be used with an option to upgrade as and when more funds become available?
I hope others join in here as due to the state of existing top teeth and the fact I don't want any further oral complications, plus the fact I must get back to work to create an income, its so important to me.
Thanks...

Hi Jim,
there is no facility to upgrade at a later date. I can understand why you would think that the dental community is split on this. I often use mini implants when doing braces, and they have another name;
TAD's or temporary anchorage device

Another name? - I'd be interested in what it is.
