I had a root canal & crown!
I had a root canal and crown done 6 months ago and now the metal base of my crown is showing at the gumline due to tissue recession. I have no other diagnosed periodontal disease. Should this crown be removed and refitted?

if you have concerns , i would recommend you see the dentist who carried out the treatment. He or she would be the best to advice you.

A metal margin is generally a more conservative and more accurately
fitting margin. They are often used for back teeth and so unless it is
an aesthetic concern I would advise leaving it. If it is a concern
aesthetically there are other alternatives such as a porcelain margin on
a porcelain fused to metal crown or even an all porcelain metal free
crown but both would involve replacing the crown
