infection under crown
can anyone advise. i have terrible pain due to an infection under my crown ( fitted several years ago). My dentist has prescribed antibiotics and pain relief but the web suggests that antibiotics will not cure nay disease only stop it spreading - been on them 24hrs and pain has eased a little but I am anxious about longterm

It is highly unlikely that the problem will go away just with antibiotics, rather you will just see a short term resolution of symptoms.
Without a full consultation it is difficult to say but from what you describe it sounds as you may have an abscess starting underneath your crown. If this is the case you would need treatment in order to resolve the issues
I hope this helps

If you do have an abscess, you would need either a root canal treatment or have the tooth removed
Please remember this advice is not diagnostic

Joining Crowns
[[[COLOR="Teal"]FONT="Arial"]I have two crowns that are joined rather than putting an individual crown on each tooth. Initially there were two individual crowns but food was getting trapped in between the teeth (crowns) so they ended up making one crown to look like two teeth...What do you think of the procedure being done this way?

It's impossible to say why your crowns have been made this way, there are circumstances for splinting crowns together. If you are unhappy I would recommend you speak with your dentist
