Default Can Braces be Worn on Veneers?

I have veneers in my front five teeth. Then later as I had cross bites in my side teeth I decided to have braces. My dentist was happy to put braces for my cross bites and he did but he doesn’t want to do it in my front ones as he fears that i might damage my veneers and doing veneers again is not only steep but can damage my teeth. Although I have veneers in my front teeth but I am not satisfied as I show my top gum a lot and my front teeth stick out a lot. Is there anything that my dentist can do without damaging my veneers?

    Regards

It is certainly possible to do braces when you have veneers in place. Without a consultation I can't say why your dentist is reluctant to do this but he/she obviously seems to be looking after your best interest.

I see a lot of adults for braces and due to this often come across this scenario, I personally have yet to have any significant problems

    I hope this helps

I have already spent over £8000.00 on my teeth and it is so irritating that they are still not perfect. It seems like I have to go to a different dentist to get my front teeth done but i will definitely try to persuade my own dentist first and see what he says.

Thanks for your quick reply - much appreciated.

Just one more question do you think its cheaper to have braces on only front teeth or does it cost the same?

That would very much depend on your dentist, complexity of tooth movement required and which brace system is utilised

I want to put veneers on all my front teeth and also braces to align my jaw. Which one should I do first? What happened if you put veneer first and braces on top of that? Would it damage the veneers? I understand that there are lingual braces or Invisalign. Would they damage the veneer?

Braces can be bonded to the porcelain but when they are taken off the
porcelain may get damaged. However braces can also be fitted to the
inside of the teeth - lingual orthodontics and this can achieve
everything that braces on the outside can achieve. I think it is very
important that it is agreed before treatment what the ultimate aim of
the treatment is or you may deal with the cross bites but still not be
happy with your smile due to the gum display and the fact that they may
still stick out. It may be in fact necessary to consider new veneers as
part of the overall treatment plan but it is difficult to comment
further without seeing your teeth or knowing what they where like before
the veneers were done. Equally it may be possible to accept the veneers
as they are and still achieve what you wish
