Default instrument left in root canal / veneers

Could somebody please give me some advice?

One of my upper front teeth has darkened after a root canal procedure. The dentist also left a fragment of instrument inside the root - according to later x-rays. Therefore, I cannot have internal bleaching.

I would like veneers to rectify this problem as it looks terrible but am unsure where to find an experienced cosmetic dentist. Could you recommend someone in the Birmingham area, preferably Solihull, as I have not got a reliable dentist here that I can trust.

Also, can I just leave the botched root canal alone and go ahead with the veneers. I am reluctant to do anything more to it, in case I lose a front tooth. It has been in its current state for over ten years.

I am desperate to get this sorted as soon as possible so would really appreciate a recommendation.

hello try going t our find a dentist section and going to the Birmingham page we have some cosmetic dentist there and also one of our expert advisors on the website has a practice in birmingham. a veneer over a dark tooth would need to be thicker or possibly not all ceramic however i would suggest seeing a cosmetic dentist for advice and a consultation. If you use a cosmetic dentist from our list be sure to tell them that you found them on the cosmetic dentistry guide

Good Luck and please come back and tell us how things went!

Thank-you for getting back to me so quickly. However, I am not sure which of the dentists specifically specialises in cosmetic dentistry. My current dentist is on the list and he is more of a general practitioner.

Would I be better off going to a city centre practice in Birmingham, or trying to find a dentist locally in Solihull. Would there be any advantages to using a city centre practice. Many dentist in my area claim to "specialise" in aesthetics but I am not sure who to trust.

I have heard so many horror stories and do not want my teeth to look worse than they do already.

    Many thanks.

hello there is no such thing as somebody that "specialises" in cosmetic dentistry it is not a recognised speciality by the GDC (General dental council) however there are cosmetic dentists that are highly experienced at what they do finding the right one is a difficult task, why not pick up the phone, speak to the reception staff see how help full there are and ask if you can see some of that dentist's work in the form of before and after photos
