Would leaving my missing tooth untreated affect the alignment of my teeth?

Q. Hi, I have just had my top furthest back tooth extracted and after doing some research I am worried that this will affect my alignment etc if I leave it missing. What is best, to leave it or to have an implant? Do they do this on the NHS? I am 29 and also do not want it to affect my speech. Many thanks,
A. It will have no effect, the only only reason you would put another tooth in its place is to prevent over erupting of the opposing tooth (the tooth it bites onto). Implants are not availailable on the Nhs.
