Would It Be Possible To Have A Bridge Fitted To My Crowns Or Would I Need New Crowns At Either Side?

Q.
Hello Dr Moore. My question is that I got my top four front teeth crowned a few years ago but now my tooth has come out. Would it be possible to have a bridge fitted to my existing crowns or would I have to get new crowns at either side? At the moment I have a single tooth plate but it’s rather problematic as I have to take it out to eat, which isn’t ideal. Do you know of any other treatment I could consider. Any help or advice on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

Hello and thank you for contacting me. That sounds like a good idea if the roots of the adjacent teeth are strong enough to hold it in. The alternative will be to replace the tooth with an implant. Explain your situation to your dentist and see which option he believes to be best. If you are unsure, I would recommend you seek a couple of separate opinions for greater clarity. I hope this advice helps you. Kind regards, Dr Andrew Moore.
