Would getting braces at 21 be too old?

Q. Hi, I have quite a severe overbite and crowded bottom teeth. I was never encouraged to have a brace as a child, but I always wish I had. Im 21 now and just wondered what options, if any, I have. I asked my dentist and she advised me that it would take a traditional metal brace to straighten my teeth out and dismissed the idea. Any advise would be helpful! Thanks,
A. Hi Lizzy, Fixed braces would most probably be the best option. This doesn’ necessarily ahve to be the fixed metal barces. There are systems- like the fixed braces that use ceramic (clear/tooth coloured)barckets and wires. This appears far more discreet, but works in the same way. A good cosmetic dental practice/orthodontic practice will provide this servive. The cost wmay vary, but many clinics offer free consultations to explore all options.

You’ll need to find a dentist/orthodontist in your area who provides adult orthodontics and can give you different options for the type of treatment you could have.

Hi there, I am a dentist and I am looking for an orthodontist to refer a 6year old child who had a few decidious teeth removed. Of particular note was ULDE. The father and I are concerned about the drifting of the UL6. Is there anything that can be done to maintain the space. Can this be done on the NHS? If not can I have an approximate quote.
