Will Treatment for My Daughter’s Malocclusion be Available on the NHS?

Q.

Hello Dr Gambroudes. My daughter is twelve years of age and has a mesially inclined lower right sixth tooth and her lower right fifth tooth is impacted. We have already made an appointment with an orthodontist and will be seeing him in a few months, but in the meantime, do you have any idea if these malocclusions will fall within the NHS bracket for free treatment? And how would this problem be treated, do you think she would need a brace? Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance for taking the time to read this question and offer any advice you may have.

Hi, thank you for getting in touch. To be honest, I am not entirely sure. Potentially yes, the treatment could fall within the NHS bracket for free treatment but initially your daughter would need to be assessed in person by an orthodontist who carries out NHS treatment. They will then be able to tell you what the best course of treatment would be, it could be that braces are an option. Regards, Marcus.
