Which one is better Veneer or Crown?

Q. Hi Dr Patel I am about to have a crown fitted on a front tooth but am concerned whether this is best treatment. My front tooth is halved horizontally due to childhood accident but is still strong and the nerve still alive. My dentist recommends a crown (though originally proposed a veneer). The reason I’m getting dental work is that original cap (only fitted to bottom half of tooth) has now discoloured as I’m 38 and had original Crown at 10 yrs old. So it’s an aesthetic replacement. My teeth are in excellent condition and are very strong. What would you recommend? Veneer or Crown? My concern is weakening the tooth by filing away for a crown when I know the top half is strong and nerve alive. Regards

A. If there is enough good tooth I would recommend a veneer if possible as it is less destructive.
