When I Smile My Teeth Don’t Show. Is This A Dental Issue Or A Jaw Alignment Issue?

Q.
Dear Andrew. When I smile it is very difficult for my teeth to show. Even when I talk you don’t see the top ones that much. Is this a tooth issue or a jaw/lip issue? Can anything be done about this? It causes me a lot of stress and makes me never want to smile.
When I do smile very wide (forced) you can see the teeth more but it looks very unnatural.
My teeth are all very straight (orthodontic work done as a kid) but I feel like that was pointless as I can never smile normally and show them off. I feel like my teeth are too far back in my mouth and that is why they don’t show. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello and thank you for your enquiry. It’s generally a facial issue unless your teeth are very worn down, correction is very difficult I guess you’d need advice from a cosmetic surgeon. I would need to see you in person to fully determine whether it’s a dental issue or a facial issue. I hope this helps. Best wishes, Dr Andrew Moore.
