What is the red bump that causes me pain between my teeth?

Q.
I just recently had two fillings. Before the two fillings I went to my dentist for a small, almost indetectible red bump on my gums between my teeth,( one of the teeth with the cavity) it had been hurting on and off. My dentist told me that its nothing and that the cavity in that tooth is so small that it wouldn’t affect the root. After getting the filling, I still have some pain and the red bump, I went in again, they took xrays and said everything is fine. What would be causing pain when I bite down or chew food? Also, why would I have a red bump?
A.
It might be a small abscess developing on the root or just the shape of the gum, either way if the the tooth is still hurting it would be worth getting it checked again by your dentist
