What is the best type of brace to close a front tooth gap?

Q.
Hi, I have a gap between my two front teeth but I also feel as though the rest of my teeth need to be altered as I have very small lateral incisors and a small overbite. All of these lead to me having a small lisp when I speak. This causes me to feel uncomfortable and to have lack of confidence around people. In previous years I have also been bullied for how my teeth are. I am about to start orthodontic treatment, I was just wondering what type of brace would an orthodontist usually use to treat this? thank you doctor hughes for your time on this matter
A.
Hi
It depends on the size of the gap and whether the front teeth are tipped. A fixed brace (maybe on the outside or inside of the teeth) will usually be quicker but Invisalign often works in this case. Great news that you are starting your treatment – you’ll get some great results and will boost your confidence.
Well done
