What can be done to rectify filing that was done on my teeth during braces treatment?

Q.
Hi there, I’ve had braces on for the past 18 months and they are due to come off in a couple of weeks. I am unhappy with the filing my orthodontist has done. It now looks as though the corners of some of my teeth have been chipped and they also look irregular! Is there any way I can get this corrected? Should I ask my orthodontist to lengthen the teeth he’s filed that i’m unhappy with so as they can be reshaped?

hi ,
some filing of teeth is not uncommon as before the treatment is begun as teeth out of position come together we get irregular wear.
if they have been adjusted and you are unhappy with appearance – depending on the amount of adjustment required some filling can be added instead of filing more away.
ultimately your orthodontist will decide which is more appropriate.
if you would rather not add filling – in theory it is possible to extrude the teeth to make them longer but be prepared for a longer treatment time
if you are really unhappy the more extreme option is porcelain veneers- i would recommend the easier options first
