What are the options for treating advanced gum disease?

Q.
I have advanced stage gum disease and have lost teeth due to it. I am currently seeing a dentist who has removed the 4 front lower teeth and did deep scale cleanig with bone scraping and now am wearing an interim partial. My question is, are there any other options to advanced gum disease other than tooth extraction? When is laser gum surgery still an option? And is most dentist skilled in this procedure?
I am very self conscious about my appearance and just the removal of these front teeth has weighed heavy on my when I look in the mirror without my partial in.
Thank you in advance.

My advice would be that your dentist should refer you to see a periodontial specialist dentist (gum specialist) as soon as possible to analyse how severe your problem is and to offer soem treatment solutions – I would consider this as a matter of urgency as the earlier gum disease is treated, the better and toyu may be able to avoid tooth loss?

Kind regards
