Veneers look thick and odd in places. Is this normal or can something be done?

Q. I had veneers fitted to my teeth about 5 years ago and have found that although they are straight, I have noticed that if you look underneath they are very thick in places and look odd. Is this normal and can it be rectified? Thanks,
A. They should look natural. To be rectified they would have to be remade. I would advise a consultation with a cosmetic dentist.

My veneer came off a month ago I woke up one morning and it was gone. Since then my dentist has stuck a new one back twice, only for it to come off each time. First after two days then after one day as I was talking to my husband it fell off. my dentist says this is a common thing and I should have a crown. I’ve only had the veneer for about two years and would like to keep it. The veneer is fitted to my front tooth. Is this the norm with veneers. Thanking you

Hi Its not that common but if it comes off repeatedly then it would be worth a new veneer or crown for more security

Is it common for the temporary veneers worn before the porcelain ones to break? Mine have done it 6 times in two weeks. I eat nothing hard and cut up everything. I am concerned the permanat veneers will do the same. So far 3 air bubbles have become a problem in the temps.1 cuspid has broken once, the new one has a hole in it. The other cuspid has broken 3 times. One middle tooth has broken twice and the one next to it once. I usually have one break no longer than 48 hours after a visit. Should I be worried about the final product?

They can do but that does sound like alot!I would want your dentist to check your bite to make sure the new teeth will last, you should discuss this with your dentist before the final ones are fitted.

Hi Chris. I have a bit of a strange problem in that my left canine is slightly shorter than my right and noticeably so. I had considerd a veneer but the issue with that is the actual position of the canines, they are sort of diagonally positioned aren’t they. I thought therefore of having a crown, thing is this seems to over the top and I’m not a fan of having a perfectly good tooth removed when it’s simply smaller? I don’t know. what are your thoughts on this?

Thanks for your question. My first thoughts are “Why?” – Why would one canine be shorter than the other? There are a few possible explanations but I’d want to establish that before I could comment. Sorry – but you’d need a consultation before I could more helpful. Best wishes
