treatment for periondotal disease on NHS

Q. Ive been told that i have got periondotal disease i have lost one upper front tooth because of this but i wear a partial denture. its my lower 6 teeth im concerned about they are all out of allignent the two middle ones have pushed forwrd and the others either side are longer and my gums have reeceded i have asked my local dentist to extracted my lower 6 teeth but she wont do this on the nhs , so im thinking if i go privately how much would this cost for me to have 6 teeth extracted and have a fixed bridge put there in place my life would be so less complicated. thankyou for your tme.

A. I think it is definately a good idea to have private treatment. NHS treatment is basic and you will never be given all treatment options. The first thing that you need to do is have the gum disease treated and cured. If this is not done, any restorative treatment done in your mouth will fail because it will not be built on a sound foundation.
The teeth can be extracted privately and this could cost up to £200. Depending on the satbility of the rest of the teeth a bridge may not be possible and you may have to have a denture.
Please find a dentist that has a hygienist. This way you will ensure that you are treated properly.
Gum disease not only has implications on your mouth but it has been linked to systemic conditions such as diabetes and the bacteria are also implicated in causes of heart disease.
