The gum above my crowned tooth is turning blue in colour, why is this happening? Can it be fixed?

Q.
Hello. Could you help me with something? I had a crown done on my front tooth. There was no metal involved. However, after 10 years or so, I started seeing my shaved, small tooth underneath and decided it was time to change it as I was unhappy with its appearance. I had it redone in the U.S. and they convinced me to do a crown to the one next to it to have an even and symmetric smile. the gum right above the first tooth is now turning grayish or dark blue. Why do you think this is happening and can it be fixed? Thank you
A.
Hello, many thanks for your question.
I wondered whether you have a photo that you could forward me as it may give a better idea as to what is going on. I suspect that the crown is bonded and with some gum recession you may be seeing the top of the crown. As always though, if you unsure get a opinion from a dentist who can see it and can give you a thorough assessment.
