The Back of My Crown Feels Rough. What Should I Do?

Q.
Good afternoon Dr Gambroudes, thank you for taking the time to read my question. I have just had a back crown replaced today with a CEREC crown. I have been asked to wait a week and see how it feels, and then by all means go back to the clinic if there are any problems. At the moment, it’s obviously quite sore and feeling a bit strange which is of course to be expected, but I have realised as the anaesthetic is wearing off that the back of the crown feels very rough against my tongue when other crowns I already have feel smooth. Is this normal? What should I do please? Thank you in advance.

Hello, thank you for contacting me with your query. I suggest that you go back to the dentist who performed the treatment and ask for it to be smoothed or adjusted, it’s nothing to worry about and they will be able to sort it for you. Kind regards, Marcus.
