Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Q.
Dear Dr Caplan im a 21-year-old girl living currently in UAE , I started orthodontic treatment when i was 11 ,and at 15 I had my perfect desired teeth , but recently im realizing that I have a really big problem that is getting worst day by day , its misplaced midline , my upper central teeth are completely moved to left and replaced by my left latral tooth , im losing my confidence and since im 21 and its really embarrassing to use metal braces , I wanted to know is there any method that this flaw could be fixed at this age ? (I forgot to mention that I still have my wise teeth ) Thank You,

My erupting wisdom teeth have made my front otherwise health teeth overlap. Would braces damage my teeth?

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
Q.
Hi, at 29 I have been advised that I have very good teeth, they are strong I have no problems at all and they are all in very good condition with no fillings. However from a young age I was advised that I had too many teeth, which until now although my teeth aren’t particularly straight on top, I was not too bothered because they are in such good condition and I was worried that a brace would damage my teeth, however over the last 6 months or so my wisdom teeth have started to come through causing an overlap of my two front teeth, and increasing discomfort. I realise that I may have to have some form of orthodontic treatment, but I am very nervous about damaging my teeth by having a brace, however I would like to have straight teeth. I would be grateful therefore if you could please advise of the options available and whether my worries are founded. Many thanks in advance.,

I had whitening but there are yellow patches from here I had braces. What would you recommend?

Friday, November 5th, 2010
Q.
Hello I had my teeth professionally whitened but found after that there are a few teeth with a square yellow patch on which will not whiten, I had braces 10 years ago which I took off myself could it be cement left over, im wondering if it would be worth having my teeth polished or have veneers put over the offending teeth? I am also interested in haveing my teeth straightened as my wisdom teeth has made them wonkey again. Many Thanks ,

I’m 29 and my bottom wisdom teeth are pushing my teeth and they are beginning to stick out. I work full time and claim tax credits, would I still have to pay full price for the braces or is there a way I could pay them off?,

Is the pain around gum at the back of my mouth a wisdom tooth erupting?

Friday, October 8th, 2010
Q.
Hi there, I just wanted some reassurance regarding a tooth. I have read the pages on this website which seemed very in depth & helpful. I’ve been reading on the subject of wisdom teeth. On my lower jaw, I have developed some soreness around the gum. I think it’s one of my wisdom teeth trying to come through. It feels like tooth ache, but no tooth is there, also do they come through at different times, as I have to trouble on the other side of the lower jaw. Thanks for any help with my questions. ,

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

I would like to be sedated during my dentistry work using IV (Intravenous) Sedation, I need fillings and maybe an extraction. I also have 3 wisdom teeth. This causes me alot of pain, but i have had a bad experience with a dentist, which has made me petrefied! I have been in ain on and off for 4 years now. Will a dentist carry this work out under sedation and can anybody be recommended in the Manchester area? Thank you,

What is the best option to move or replace a tooth? Should I go for an implant or a bridge?

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010
Q.
Hello, I fell off my bike as a child when my adult teeth were very new and smacked my left front tooth – the root had not finished developing and the tooth subsequently died and discoloured. I had a root canal and a crown placed on it as an adult but I think my teeth have since moved a bit and it sticks out now at the front and has been borderline wobbly for years. I am wondering whether there is any point in getting braces (for the 3rd time! At 38!) to move a dead root or should I go for an implant or a bridge (am worried there might not be enough room for another tooth the same size as my existing front tooth). Having had all 4 wisdom teeth out in one go and two lots of braces I must admit to not being so fond of dentists so the least painful option is always going to be appreciated! I should also admit that I live on island in the Maldives so I can’t get to the dentist often…. does this rule out braces completely? Apologies for the novel, hope you can point me in the right direction! Thank you for your help,
