I live in Londonderry and I want my top teeth to be straightened what are my options

Friday, June 5th, 2009
Q.
I have the classic condition of fangs on my top teeth, I really want my top teeth to be straight as i never smile in photos and its got to the stage i hate getting photos taken. My bottom teeth are not completly straight but im happy enough with them, when i went looking about getting somthing done before, they recommended getting teeth removed and then set my jaw as my bite wasnt 100%, i understand what an over bite is but my teeth are level with each other and i didnt want this major operation done, all i want is my top teeth to be straight so i can smile and im not worried about how good my bite is. Can you help??? Can you suggest anyone in my home town in Londonderry, N.Ireland??? I look forward to hearing from you.

Would it be possible to lengthen my top teeth and widen the appearance of my upper jaw

Friday, June 5th, 2009
Q.
I used to have an underbite, however, followinglower maxiofacial surgery, that was corrected. My upper jaw is still relatively smallin comparision, and my bite is close. When I smile I show alot of my bottom teeth, including gum exposure. They have slight crowding also. Would it be possible to lengthen my top teeth and widen the appearence of my upper jaw with minimal invasion? also what can be done for my bottom jaw, I had fixed braces to relign before and they’ve moved bak to their overcrowded position. I do find it distressing as I’m getting married in August and have had treatment since iwas 11 but it’s still not right or a normal smile.

My front teeth are transparent what are the treatment possibility other than veneers

Thursday, June 4th, 2009
Q.
Hi im 19 and just recently i noticed that my front four teeth are transparent and i was wondering what exactly is this? I’ve been reading for quite awhile now about this issue and it seems to be common, but no one gives a straight answer on what it is. I’ve read that it is loss of enamel and need to be looked at cause they are sensitive, or it is not enough calcium. Well my teeth are not sensitive to hot or cold and rarely bother me (other than appearance) and ive been taking calcium pills for some months now and still have seen no signs of change (other than white spots that appear on my teeth but then after a few times of brushing they fade away). I have looked into treatments and toothpaste and have been using toothpaste with liquid calcium (Arm & Hammer Age Defying / Pro Enamel) in it that claims to rebuild enamel, but this is my 3rd tube and again i’ve yet to see change. I did contact my dentist and asked about my problem and when i mentioned it they were hung over on lost enamel, but the more i told them i felt no pain or sensitivity, that i don’t drink soft drinks (have drank only water for about 2 years now), and rarely eat fruit plain or by it’s self, they became confused. Then i asked about the treatments i’d found (ex. synthetic enamel, and liquid calcium) and again there was a silence on the phone and they told me they had never heard of those and said that i should get veneers right away. (i feel they just wanted my money) I was wondering if these treatments work, or if there is another way to fix this problem other than cosmetics? For could it be a mineral / vitamin i am lacking in my diet?

i have lumineers on my front teeth and i have a brown dot on top can i use otc bleach to fix it

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
I have lumineers on my front 4 teeth. I already had really white teeth, but my sister’s boss (a dentist) wanted to try them out and I volunteered. Now, I have a tiny brown dot on the top of one of my front teeth. Can I use an otc bleach to get rid of it, or is this a lumineer problem? How can I fix the brown spot– I live really far from where I got them originally (and my sister no longer works for him).

Q.
In the last year my normally white front teeth have become translucent and display mottled white patches. What would be the best treatment for this? I would prefer as little invasive treatment as possible! Thanks

My teeth have now become overcrowded and need re-aligning could veneer be a option?

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
I had a brace when I was 13 but my teeth have now become overcrowded and need re-aligning as a result of my wisdom teeth coming through. I recently went to an orthodontist to think about getting a brace and he’s told me that I have short roots and he wouldn’t recommend braces for me. I’d like to know any other options that I have. Are braces totally out of the question? Could I have veneers? Many thanks in advance.

i have a gap between my front teeth if i have veneers will i still have to have frenectomy procedure

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Hi and im looking to finally get my teeth done. I have a gap between my two front teeth and I hate it. My last dentist told me that before I get anything done that I may need a frenectomy. My question is, if i consider lumineers or veneers will I still have to have this procedure done? Also what would you consider to be the best option for me and my situation.

Should i need to wear braces for 2 year to close a 4 inch gap between my front teeth any advice

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009
Q.
Dr dentist, i am having brace in two week time beacuse of a 4 inch gap between my front teeth and 2 inch my bottom. when i visited my orthodontist he made it clear, he cannot close my front teeth gap completely but he can close it slightly because from his own view , if he closes it completely my teeth will look weird . (because of other patients experience) from this i feel quite disappointed because my main aim of the entire treatment is to sort out the gap before i go uni in the next two years. for this i have intended to urge him that id like the gap to close completely but before, i would like to know what you think about this decision and also i’m meant to wear the braces for twoyears which seems quit a long time just to close a 4 inch gap slight not completely, i just dont understand. any advice would be appreciated. thankx

i would love to have veneers is it possible to be put to sleep before the start of treatment

Monday, June 1st, 2009
Q.
Dear sir is it possible to be asleep before the start of dental treatment,i am an extreem phobic due to many bad experiences in my child hood and teens,i have been unable to see a dentist in over 20 years i have visited over the years all of the dentists in my area but have been unable to stay for the appointment through sheer fear.i have a front tooth missing through an accident at work and various chips and would love to get veneers and get my teeth sorted out as it is so embarrasing, and i am so self concious about smiling, if i could be put to sleep i am sure i could go through with the surgery
