Why can’t my dentist remove all my teeth and fit dentures?

Wednesday, November 16th, 2011
Q.

Hi please can you help me for the last 20 years ive been asking my dentist to remove all of my teeth, i want dentures, but he refuses. I feel so unhappy and have no self confidence. I suffer with stomach acid due to a few teeth missing making it difficult to chew properly. There must be a dentist some where in the uk that can help me. If i wanted plastic surgery say breast enlargement or facelift that would not be a problem, surely i have rights ? I would be more than happy to sign a legal paper saying that im going against good advice. Please can you help me. Kind regards

My daughters had the wrong tooth pulled and has now been recommended braces she doesn’t want, what are the solutions?

Thursday, September 15th, 2011
Q.

Dr. Tennet: My 18 year old daughter recently had her four wisdom teeth out. ..we thought. In error, her upper right second molar was extracted and the impacted wisdom tooth remains. The dentist is willing to do what is necessary to make the situation right and is hoping the wisdom tooth will drop and she can wear braces to move the wisdom tooth forward. We are skeptical that this will work and our daughter does not want to wear braces again, especially in college! We have had one expert look at doing a post implant which our daughter would like. The expert’s first reaction was to tell us she did not have enough bone to do this.
We want to pursue another opinion but would like some guidance before moving forward. Could you give us your thoughts and some advice?
Thank you.

Can I have orthodontic treatment, without having my teeth removed?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
Q.

Greetings!

Is it possible to aligned crooked teeth like mine (overcrowding teeth) without pulling one or two teeth, which I would like to avoid for many reasons.

Im already in my 40’s and I recognized my front teeth is getting uglier as it is sticking outside and the side teeth appeared more awkward (push inside). My dentist before told me I have smaller jaw thats why. They suggested before to remove one from both side, to have space. But I could not imagine doing this procedure.

I am embarassed with my teeth, I would like to have it done without getting painstaking surgery or something.I hope even with my age I would still have a chance to have it alinged to boost my self confidence.
What is the best dental cosmetic procedure for me? How much would it cost?

I hope to get the best advice from an Expert.

Looking forward to get a reply soon…

Thank you very much!

Will implants restore my facial structure?

Tuesday, August 30th, 2011
Q.

Hello!
Three of my wisdom teeth and 2 molars (1st and second) were pulled this year in February. The appearance of my face has changed drastically. I am ready to get two new implants for the molars. Will the appearance of my face go back to the way it was, in some way? Also, is there a certain amount of time I should wait to get them replaced? What’s the longest amount of time I can wait before my teeth start shifting so much that I can’t get implants? Thank you!

Can IV sedation be used during tooth extractions?

Tuesday, August 23rd, 2011
Q.

Can you extract teeth whilst I am IV sedated. I have not been to the dentist for 30 years and hate my teeth and just want them out and replaced by false ones. Please help me. I had a terrible experience as a child and I now cannot even consider goimng to a surgery if it means poking around in my mouth and injections for extractions later on. My upper right wisdom tooth is hurting and 3 of my upper fromt teeth have bits missing from decay. All my teeth apart from my incisors have hurt me at some time in the past but this lastest ache is becoming intolerable

Do I really need to have healthy teeth removed for orthodontic work?

Monday, August 22nd, 2011
Q.

hello doctor
i got braces two months ago …i had two missing incisors (congenitally) so my ortho. decided to fill the gaps with my canines then reshape them as incisors … now i will get braces for my lower jaw . my lover teeth are totally fine and straight but the ortho decided that i should extract two lower teeth just because i have two missing teeth in the upper jaw and not to make space for moving the lower teeth !!! i am really scared because i don’t like to extract those perfectly fine teeth while people are paying hundreds of dollars on teeth implants … and i hears also that my face will never look the same once those teeth are removed !!!! my question is that should i need to extract those two teeth ? or there is another option? please help!

My tooth has developed two cracks, will I have to have it removed?

Wednesday, August 10th, 2011
Q.

Hi Mark,
One of my back teeth which has had a filling for years has now developed 2 cracks on the inside about 3mm apart. The cracks run vertically from the end of the tooth to 3/4 up the tooth towards the gum line. I can move this piece of tooth if i push it hard with my tongue although it is still held fairly ridgedly in place. If this piece were to fall out looking at the inside of the tooth i would be left iwth 2 pieces of the side wall of the tooth left and right with with a visible filling in the middle. My friend says i will be able to use the tooth like this because if i visited a dentist he would extract it straight away. Would this be the case.

Is it less painful to have a wisdom tooth extracted or root canal treatment?

Tuesday, May 31st, 2011
Q.

Hi doctor,

My wisdom tooth has got infected. It’s on my upper left jaw. I visited a dentist today and she advised me tooth extraction to be performed in a week’s time. She also prescribed me Ammoxicillin (500mg) to be taken 3 times a day for one week. I am not sure if I should go for a root canal treatment or a tooth extraction. My exams are approaching so I want to go for a treatment which takes less time and gets me back on work asap. I would also like to know which one is a less painful procedure. I am 29, female. Please help.

Thanks,

What is a good treatment for TMJ?

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011
Q.

Last march i noticed a small lump and pain in my upper right gum, had xray done at dentist to reveal upper impacked wisdom tooth, I was 34 years old. Went to the maxillofacial hospital and was told that it didnt look like it would cause any problems and that most of the pain was TMJD and not from the tooth, alothough I tend to disagree, so its been a year now and not a painfree week has gone by. The wisdom tooth has now cut through the gum and my dentist can now see the cusp of the wisdom tooth and the shape through my gum, the pain is unbelievable at times and hurts in my nose and face, my two back teeth feel sore and feel like there is pressure on them, im now awaiting another appointment at the hospital to have it looked at again, but im afraid he will try to blame the pain on TMJ!, do you thing all this pain is from my tooth? I never had this pain before the lump in my gum was discovered. I really want it removed.
