I am in constant pain after many of my teeth were extracted. I am now have to use my front teeth to eat. Can anything be done?

Q.
at my wits end, have changed dentists recently due to not being looked after properly-i am now in the unfortunate situation of having a big gap on my right side after extraction of a back upper and lower tooth and a new filling which has been redone on that side and still plays up, the other side had a large filling, upper and lower,am in almost constant pain when eating on both sides-…as i am forced to use my front teeth more they are also starting to hurt…help as im concerned that my dentist isnt doing a very good job as he assures me there is nothing wrong with the fillings on either side i am terrified i will end up with dentures at 37!,

I have been having terrible pain after root canal treatment. Can you suggest anything?

Thursday, October 14th, 2010
Q.
I have recently undergone root canal treatment, since then I have had terrible pain in this tooth if any pressure is put on it at all . I have gone back to my dentist and she has not really given me a reason for this . She has given me antibiotics which on day 3 still haven’t made a difference. The tooth’s now more sensitive than it was before the treatment . Can you suggest anything as I go on holiday in a few days and don’t want to visit a Turkish dentist,

am just wondering how effective sedation is? i am very scared of the dentist but after having terrible toothache for a week i had no choice but to go he told me the tooth needed taking out and i calmed myself enough for him to inject the gum and loosen the tooth then after 5 attempts of removing the tooth told me he could not do it i was sent home in agony and shock now i know i cant try this again without sedation..or could i even be put to sleep?,

Is it worth saving tooth that has traces of bacteria in the gum around it? Or should I have treatment such as dental implants?

Friday, October 8th, 2010
Q.
Many years ago a lower molar was removed and not replaced with either inplant or denture. Over time the molar to the left of the remove one has borne most of the pressure when eating on that side. It has amalgum filling from past dentistry. In recent years eating hard food caused a little discomfort and it was assume there could be a fracture of this molar. Within the last three weeks the gum around this tooth has become inflamed and sore and I have a swelling and tenderness of the glands (not seen in the mouth) under my chin. There was alot of pain and radiation for about two days which calmed down to what is now a background soreness and slight ache. An exray has revealted some grey around the tooth root between the root and the gum indicating bacteria I believe hense the swelling and soreness but no evidence of an infection (no puss)! Apparently the tooth has some slight movement. There is no sign of decay. I have never been advised to have a bridge or cap to take the pressure of this molar so I guess it has suffered a bit. It would seem either a denture or inplant is now needed to fill the existing gap. My question is, is it worth trying to save the molar I am having these problems with in which case I will would need only one inplant (or a cap I guess?) or should this molar be removed rather than risks problems in the future with it and go for a double implant? I hope I have given you enough information here. PS Root canal work has been discounted in my case – my dentist feels extraction is the best option. Regards,

I’m in a lot of pain but I can’t have my tooth extracted till June, what can I do?

Wednesday, May 12th, 2010
Q.
My dentist has referred me to the hospital for an extraction due to decay. However, he recently worked on a tooth next to one due for extraction. This work has put the decayed tooth into orbit! I have been in extreme pain and the dentist has prescribed penicillin. My hospital appointment is not until June! He isn’t keen on extracting the tooth unless I have it done privately so that he has enough time. What can I do? I am in pain. Thank you,
